Seated Yoga for Seniors

Everyone can benefit from a yoga class, even those who are not able to stand, or get down on the floor. This class is designed to support seniors in their quest to be more active, healthy and happy. It is done entirely while sitting in chairs and wheelchairs. Participants will benefit from centering, stretching, balancing, gentle breathing exercises, socializing, laughing, and relaxing.

All 50+ Bodies Can Do Kripalu Yoga - level 1
|

This 90-minute class will benefit you at any stage of life, or level of physical health and fitness. Some of the many benefits students experience are:

- Improved self-image and self-esteem, and personal realization
- Increased bodily strength and stamina and flexibility
- Healing of physical and emotional injuries and traumas

This gentle class will include centering, warm-ups, yoga postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), relaxation and meditation.

Kripalu Yoga - level 1
|
|
A gentle approach for creating balance and harmony in the body, mind and spirit. This class introduces the fundamental principles of alignment, breath work and relaxation.
A series of gentle primary postures and yoga basics will be taught. The emphasis will be on increasing flexibility, stretching, lengthening the spine and reducing tension.

Kripalu Yoga - level 2
|
|
Easy transition from Level 1. For those students wishing to broaden their yoga experience. Must have completed at least one Level 1 session.
Classes will include warm-ups to ensure safety and comfort, modifications for familiar and new poses, restorative postures, a deeper exploration of pranayama and meditation, and guided relaxation experiences.

Yoga for Round Bodies
|
|
If you want to do yoga but think you can't, this class with a round body certified yoga instructor will change your mind.
Class size is limited to 12 and includes gentle yoga postures using props, restorative (deep relaxation) practices, mindful movement, and breathing exercises.
People of all ages, sizes and abilities are welcome, even those who cannot get on the floor. You will leave classes feeling relaxed and energized, with tools to begin a home practice.

Chair Yoga for 50+
|

This class is ideal for individuals who fit one or more of the following physical challenges, which keep them from taking a traditional style yoga class:
- Difficulty in getting up and down easily
- Chronic health conditions
- Recovering from injury or illness
- Recent injuries
The beginner level postures and warm-ups are modified for safety and comfort, making exercise accessible to all ages, body sizes and conditions. The emphasis will be on increasing flexibility and range of motion, stretching, lengthening the spine and reducing tension. The class will also include pranayama (breathing exercises), an introduction to meditation, and guided experiences of deep relaxation.
